Tonya Fulkerson is the co-founder of Fulkerson Kennedy & Company (FK&Co), a Washington, DC-based firm that specializes in fundraising and political consulting for Members of Congress and their leadership PAC operations, non- profit organizations, corporations, associations, and individuals.
Drawing on nearly 15 years of experience in planning long-term national fundraising strategy for political campaigns, Tonya also provides high-level strategic advice and consulting to non-profit organizations, corporations, and advocacy groups.
Tonya serves as a senior campaign advisor to high-profile Members of Congress with some of the most expensive races in the country, including U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-NY), U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill (D- MO), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), and Joe Manchin (D-WV). During the 2016 cycle, Tonya worked with U.S. Senate candidate Jason Kander (D-MO) to build a national fundraising strategy, as well U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Evan Bayh (D-IN). Other past clients include U.S. Senators Gary Peters (D-MI), Mark Udall (D-CO), John Walsh (D-MT), Byron Dorgan (D-ND) and Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-NV) on her U.S. Senate campaign.
In addition, Tonya is a consultant to several non-profit organizations, including Sandy Hook Promise (SHP), a national organization founded by family members of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting to prevent gun- related deaths. She spearheaded the creation and implementation of SHP’s annual gala in Washington, DC, which has played a central role in the organization’s fundraising strategy while generating national media coverage as a platform to highlight its mission and progress.
Prior to co-founding FK&Co, Tonya was the Finance Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) from 2006 to 2009, a period in which 14 new Democratic Senators were elected. In this role, Tonya worked closely with the business community, overseeing all fundraising from corporate Political Action Committees, breaking all previous DSCC fundraising records in her region. Additionally, she worked side-by-side with several of the country’s most competitive campaigns and played an integral role in developing one of the DSCC’s most successful fundraising operations.
Before joining the DSCC, Tonya was a fundraiser for the 2006 re-election campaign of U.S. Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND) and the 2004 U.S. Senate campaign of Alaska Governor Tony Knowles.
A native of Slidell, Louisiana and graduate of the Louisiana State University, Tonya began her career in Baton Rouge working for the Louisiana Democratic Party during the 2002 election cycle. She currently resides in Washington, D.C. with her husband and their two children.
